The second King of France of the Valois dynasty. Reigned from 1350 to 1364. Known as Le Bon the Good. Son of Philip VI. His reign was marked by political and social unrest amid the Hundred Years' War. At the Battle of Poitiers (1356), France was defeated by the English army led by Edward the Black Prince, and the King himself was taken prisoner and taken to London from Bordeaux. During this time, the Crown Prince Charles (later Charles V) became regent and tried to resolve the internal and external crises facing France.

バロア朝第2代のフランス国王。在位1350‐64年。善王le Bonと呼ばれた。フィリップ6世の子。彼の治世は百年戦争の渦中にあって，政治的･社会的混乱はいちじるしく，ポアティエの戦(1356)では，エドワード黒太子のひきいるイギリス軍に敗れ，王自身も捕虜となり，ボルドーからロンドンに連行された。その間，皇太子シャルル(のちのシャルル5世)が摂政となり，フランスが直面する内外の危機の打開につとめた。
