…In 1788 (Genroku 1), he published “Wakasui” (Wakamizu), and in the same year, he became a master of his own school. In 1790, he published “Sono Fukuro” (Sono Fukuro), which made him famous. In 1794, he came into conflict with the Fukagawa Shomon over the selection of “Roofing”, and instead published “Aru Toki Shu” (Aru Toki Shu). The following year, he published “Wakana Shu”, a memorial collection of poems to mark the first anniversary of Basho’s death. …
