Cnidaria, Anthozoa, Hexacorallia, Scleractinia, Porites, etc. This scleractinian coral forms colonies that resemble solidified water bubbles. The colonies are the size of a chicken egg, and the capsule walls are about 3 mm in diameter and have many fine spines and holes. The polyps are brown or greenish brown, and have long stalks. They have 12 tentacles with rounded tips. They are found south of Sagami Bay, and live on the seabed at depths of 5 to 10 meters. 刺胞動物門花虫綱六放サンゴ亜綱イシサンゴ目ハマサンゴ科。水の泡が固まったような群体をつくるイシサンゴ。群体は鶏卵大で,直径 3mmほどの莢の壁に多くの細いとげや孔がある。ポリプは褐色や緑褐色で,柄を長く伸ばす。触手は 12本あり,先端が丸い。相模湾以南に分布し,水深5~10mの海底にすむ。
