Air Lead - Air Lead

Japanese:
Air Lead - Air Lead

...The air current itself, generated by blowing into the instrument, creates a vibration phenomenon at the point of contact with the instrument, affecting the air inside the vessel and functioning in the same way as a reed. This is what is referred to as an air reed. The instrument itself is a single tube with one end (the head) closed, and a hole called the mouthpiece is cut into the wall of the tube near the closed end, and part of the edge of the mouthpiece is a sharp knife edge.

From [Lead]

... Also, in the case of trumpets, the sound is produced by the vibration of the lips, so the term "lip reed" is used. In the case of flutes, the air flow itself acts as the vibrator when blowing, so the term "air reed" is used, and since there is no visible vibrator, the term "non-reed" is used. [Yutaka Sekine]...

Japanese:
