A town in Shakotan County, Hokkaido. It occupies the tip of the Shakotan Peninsula and has the fishing ports of Bikuni, Irika, and Yobetsu. Its fishing industry includes the intermediate cultivation of sea urchin seedlings, and agriculture is centered on dairy farming. Until the Taisho era, it prospered through herring fishing. The cliff-lined coastline, including Cape Kamui, is part of the Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Coast Quasi-National Park. 238.14 km2 . 2,516 people (2010). 北海道積丹郡の町。積丹半島の先端部を占め,美国(びくに),入舸(いりか),余別の漁港がある。ウニの種苗中間育成などの漁業,酪農を中心とした農業を行う。大正年間まではニシン漁で栄えた。神威(かむい)岬など断崖絶壁の海岸はニセコ積丹小樽海岸国定公園に属する。238.14km2。2516人(2010)。
