〘Noun〙① The status of a shrine. In ancient times, there were Tensha and Kokusha, and when the Ritsuryo system was put in place, a system of Kansha was established, and later, Kansha were divided into large and small Kanpei and large and small Kokupei. After the mid-Heian period, systems such as Ichinomiya and Ninomiya in each province, Sosha and Twenty-two shrines were established. By a proclamation from the Dajokan in May 1871 ( Meiji 4 ), the systems of large, medium and small Kanpei shrines, special Kanpei shrines, large, medium and small Kokupei shrines, prefecture shrines, town shrines, village shrines and unranked shrines were established. 〘名〙① 神社の格式。上代には天社、国社があり、令制が整備されると官社の制がたてられ、のち、官社に官幣の大・小社、国幣の大・小社の別が生じた。また、平安中期以後には、諸国の一宮・二宮などの制、総社の制、二十二社の制などが行なわれた。明治四年（一八七一）五月の太政官布告により、官幣の大・中・小社、別格官幣社、国幣の大・中・小社、府県社、郷社、村社、無格社の別が定められた。昭和二一年（一九四六）廃止。② 会社の位置づけ、会社の、その業界におけるランキング、または会社の風格。※迷走（1976）〈秦恒平〉凍結「信用あり伝統あり、社格も高い」
