A town in Shibetsu County, eastern Hokkaido. Mount Shari towers to the west, and Kunashiri Island is across the Nemuro Strait to the east. The town fishes for salmon and other fish, and also engages in dairy farming on the plateau of the Konsen wilderness. Area: 624.68 km2. Population: 5,646 (2010).
