Japanese:
Himekiri of Uji - Himekiri of Uji
The title of an old joruri piece. Published in 1658 (Meireki 4). Edo Izumidayu Shogen. Written by Oka Seibei Shigetoshi. Six sections. The oldest extant Kinpira joruri. The first section is based on the tales of the Four Heavenly Kings' bravery and the legend of Hashihime of Uji, which can be found in war chronicles, tales, and Noh songs, and the title of the piece comes from this section. The second section and onwards are about the suppression of a rebellion by Mushadokoro Yorichika of Yura. This work was written by the generation of the Four Heavenly Kings, and there are many immature aspects as a Kinpira piece, but it already has the elements of defeating the transformation (henge) of the head of the Genji clan and his retainers, and suppressing the rebellion.
