[1] The name of the area around the canal of the Kanda River that flows between Hongo, Yushima, Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, and Surugadai, Chiyoda Ward. The name comes from the fact that the spring water in the grounds of Korinji Temple, which was located here, was used for the Shogun's tea ceremony. [一] 東京都文京区湯島、本郷と千代田区駿河台との間を流れる、神田川の掘割一帯の地名。もと、この地にあった高林寺境内のわき水を、将軍家の茶の湯に用いたための名。元和二年（一六一六）の掘割開発、その後の拡張工事のため泉は失われたが、景勝地として茗渓(めいけい)、小赤壁(しょうせきへき)と呼ばれた。[二] 東京都三鷹市、井之頭(いのかしら)池にある井戸。将軍家が茶の湯に用いたと伝えられる。[三] 狂言。各流。住持に頼まれて野中の清水を汲みに出かけた門前の女を、思いをよせる新発意(しんぼち)が追い、小歌で恋のやりとりをし、迎えに来た住持と争う筋。現行和泉流では「水汲(みずくみ)」といい、鷺流では「水汲新発意」といった。
