[Uncinate seizures]
This is a seizure that originates from the uncinate gyrus, an ancient cortex in the limbic system, and in 1890, the British physician H. Jackson coined the term dream state. The seizure begins with an olfactory hallucination, in which the patient detects an unpleasant odor, and is then complicated by memory impairment seizures such as déjà vu and naive experiences, progressing to a dream-like experience, which is a cognitive seizure. Memory impairment seizures are when the patient feels as if they have seen something they have never seen before many times (déjà vu), or feels as if they are seeing something familiar for the first time (naive experience), and are a temporal lobe symptom.
