Kinubari (silk-covered) - Kinubari (English spelling) serpentine goby
A marine fish of the Gobiidae family in the order Perciformes (illustration). It is commonly found in areas south of Tohoku. In Misaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, it is called Kinobaru. It was given the name Kinubari because of its beautiful body color. Its body color is pale gray with a pink tinge, and it has six to seven vertical black-brown horizontal bands bordered in yellow on its sides, including one that passes through the eye, making it bright and easy to identify. The dorsal, anal, and caudal fins are dark red. Several soft rays on the upper part of the pectoral fin are detached and silky. It has small, round scales and no lateral line. It reaches a body length of about 11 cm.

スズキ目ハゼ科の海産魚(イラスト)。東北以南にふつうに見られる。神奈川県三崎ではキノバルと呼ばれる。体色が美しいところから絹張の名を与えられた。体色は桃色がかった淡灰色で,眼を通る1条を含めて体側に黄色に縁取られた6~7条の垂直な黒褐色横帯があり,鮮やかで識別が容易である。背びれ,しりびれ,尾びれは暗紅色を呈する。胸びれ上部の数軟条は遊離して絹糸状になる。うろこは小さい円鱗で側線はない。体長11cmほどに達する。
