Shika ruins

Japanese: 四箇遺跡 - しかいせき

This site is located in Shika, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City, and dates from the end of the Early Jomon period to the Yayoi period. It is located in the western part of Fukuoka City, deep in the Sawara Plain, on a slight elevation of the Muromi River alluvial fan that flows into Hakata Bay. Surveys were conducted several times between 1974 and 1977 at sites A, B, C, J-10, and Shika East. At site A, a group of pottery belonging to the older period of the Sanmanda style, which is descended from the Nishidaira style, was excavated. A special peat layer was discovered, and wooden containers, wooden sword-shaped lacquerware, cross-shaped stone tools, stone plates, spouted pottery, etc. were excavated. At site B, Todoroki-B style and Sobata style pottery from the end of the Early Jomon period to the beginning of the Jomon period, and in area J-10, pottery from the same later period as at site A was excavated.

福岡市早良区四箇にある縄文時代早期末～弥生時代の遺跡。福岡市の西部，早良平野の奥にあり，博多湾にそそぐ室見川扇状地の微高地に立地する。1974‐77年に数回にわたって，A,B,C,J‐10，四箇東地点の調査が行われた。A地点は，西平式の系統を引く三万田式の中でも古い時代に属する土器群が出土する。特殊泥炭層が検出され，木製容器，木刀状漆器や，十字形石器，石皿，注口土器などが出土している。B地点は，早期末～前期の轟B式，曾畑式土器，J‐10区ではA地点と同じ後期の土器が出土する。
