Cubic Zirconia

Japanese: キュービック・ジルコニア - きゅーびっくじるこにあ
Cubic Zirconia

...These artificial crystals do not necessarily have to be replicas of natural gemstones, but as long as they are beautiful and hard, they can be used as synthetic gemstones. Examples include yttrium aluminum garnet (abbreviated as YAG), which has become widely used as a substitute for diamond, and cubic zirconia. The success of artificial diamonds, which can be said to be the highlight of gemstone synthesis technology in the 20th century, was achieved in the spring of 1955 by General Electric (GE) of the United States, using a method of synthesis under ultra-high pressure and high temperature conditions.
