Masasada Shiozawa

Masasada Shiozawa
Born: October 20, 1870 (Meiji 3), Mito
[Died] July 7, 1945. Ito was an economist. After graduating from the Department of English and Political Science at Tokyo Senmon Gakko (now Waseda University) in 1891, he studied abroad in the United States and Germany. At the University of Berlin, he majored in finance and economics under A. Wagner and G. Schmoller. He lectured economics at his alma mater from 1902 to 1943, during which time he was head of the Department of Political Science and Economics in 1911 and president in 1921 (renamed president in 1922). He was dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Economics from 1923 to 1942. He also served as president of the School of Social Policy in 1926 and as a member of the Imperial Academy in 1934. He attended the International Labour Conference in Geneva in 1938, the League of Nations conference in Lyon, and the International Conference on Social Policy in Prague. In 1940, he became a member of the Japanese Tenant Farmers Research Committee.
