Caraway - Karawei

...The lyrics include praising Buddha, kings, and the land, as well as singing about nature and love, but all of them have a strong Buddhist flavor. They are mainly performed at powe (festivals) related to Buddhist ceremonies and rites of passage. In particular, at the boat festival held on Lake Inlay in October, music is played on a golden bird-shaped boat called a Karawei (Karyoubinga, meaning "bird that lives in paradise") and many small boats that pull it, while maidens dance gracefully.
