A movement or policy that aims at territorial expansion of a nation. Expansionist policies generally emphasize nationalism at home, take a hardline foreign policy at the expense of the people's lives, and drive the people to war and conquest. In this policy, only power is emphasized, and the nation eventually moves toward territorial expansion, with expansion becoming an end in itself, and an irrational tendency to expand without restraint.
