Arunachal Pradesh [State] (English spelling)

Japanese: アルナーチャル・プラデーシュ[州](英語表記)Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh [State] (English spelling)
It is located in the northeast corner of India, north of Assam state, and borders China to the north and Myanmar to the east. Its area is 84,000 km2 and its population is 865,000 (1991). Its capital is Itanagar. It was formerly part of the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA), and in 1972 it was separated from Assam state and became a territory under the direct control of the central government, but in 1986 it became a state. India claims that the border with China is the McMahon Line, but China does not recognize it, which was one of the causes of the Sino-Indian border conflict in 1962. It is a narrow, long stretch of about 450 km east to west and 150 km north to south, with the Great Himalayas, Lesser Himalayas, and Vanguard Hills running east to west from the northern tip.
