The title of a Shomiyo song. Depending on the sect, it is called either "Sanrei" or "Sanbourai." It is a chant to worship the Three Treasures of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and is chanted as follows: "I respectfully chant, I take refuge in the Buddha, I take refuge in all living beings who make this wish...I take refuge in the Dharma...I take refuge in the Sangha..." The original ritual is to show the form of worship in each verse. It is often chanted by the leader at the beginning of a memorial service, but in Zen memorial services, it can also be chanted by everyone at the end of the service.
