Kirigamine Tateshina Venus Line

...The Tateshina Plateau is a gentle slope at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,800 meters on the southwest foot of Mt. Tateshina. It is a major tourist destination centered on the Tateshina Onsen hot springs such as Takinoyu, Kosai, and Shinyu, the Okutateshina Onsen hot springs along the Shibukawa River to the south, and the Tateshina Lake and Shirakaba Lake, both of which are man-made lakes for agricultural use. The development of tourism in the plateau progressed rapidly after the land of the Tateshina Onsen hot springs was purchased by a private company from the local Yukawa Property District in 1960, and the opening of the Tateshina Toll Road (now part of the Kirigamine Tateshina Venus Line) in 1963 also accelerated this trend. Currently, two golf courses, tennis courts, a swimming pool, a ski resort, and an ice rink have been developed, and the plateau is a year-round resort area. ...

…蓼科山の南西麓，標高1200～1800mの緩斜面を蓼科高原といい，滝ノ湯，小斉（こさい），親湯（しんゆ）などの蓼科温泉郷や，その南の渋川に沿った奥蓼科温泉郷，ともに農業用の人造湖である蓼科湖と白樺湖などを中心とした一大観光地となっている。高原の観光開発が急速に進んだのは，1960年に蓼科温泉郷の土地が地元の湯川財産区から民間に買収されてからで，63年の蓼科有料道路(現，霧ヶ峰蓼科ビーナスラインの一部)の開通もこの傾向に拍車をかけた。現在では，二つのゴルフ場，テニスコート，プール，スキー場，スケート場も整備され，高原は年間を通じたリゾート地となっている。…
