A movement by a new generation critical of the uprising traditions that arose in Russian Poland in the 1870s after the January Uprising. The name "Pozytywizm" comes from the fact that they based the legitimacy of their statements on Western positivist philosophy (positivism). The movement was developed mainly by graduates of the University of Warsaw, which was revived in 1862 under the name of the Warsaw Central School, and the most famous of these was Świętochowski, who was called the "leader of the new generation."

一月蜂起後のロシア領ポーランドで1870年代に起こった，蜂起の伝統に批判的な新しい世代による運動。〈ポジティビズムpozytywizm〉の名称は，彼らが自分たちの発言の正当性を西欧の実証主義哲学(ポジティビズムpositivism)によって根拠づけたところからくる。運動は1862年にワルシャワ中央学校の名前で再興されたワルシャワ大学の卒業生を中心に展開されたが，なかでも有名だったのが〈新世代の首領〉と呼ばれたシフィエントホフスキである。
