〘noun〙 A box for storing combs and makeup tools. Comb box. ※Shoki (720) Sujin Year 10, September (Kitano version , Nanboku -cho period) "I found you in the comb box the next morning. " ※Utsubo (around 970-999 ) Sagain "For this lord, we have lost many of our parents' treasures, including our combs , without any regret." [Etymology] "Ke ( ke )" means container. In the "Manyoshu," "tamakushige," which is a version with "tama" (jewel) at the end, appears along with "kushige." However, during the Heian period, "kushige" was only seen in Chinese contexts such as in "Utsubo Monogatari." In Japanese poetry, "tamakushige" was used, in kana prose, "kushinohako" and "mikushinohako," and in Chinese-language diaries, "kushibako" was used.
