Japanese: 様似[町] - さまに

A town in Samani County in south-central Hokkaido. It is the terminus of the Hidaka Main Line. To the east is the southern tip of the Hidaka Mountains, and to the south faces the Pacific Ocean. It has been a fishing village since ancient times, producing large amounts of kelp. Other fish produced here include salmon, trout, and flounder, and the main agricultural industries are rice paddy, dairy farming, and light horse breeding. There is an alpine plant community on Mt. Apoi (a special natural monument). The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 364.30 ^km2 . 5,114 people (2010).

北海道中南部，様似郡の町。日高本線の終点。東は日高山脈南端部で，南は太平洋に面する。古くからの漁村で，大量のコンブがとれる。他に，サケ，マス，カレイを産し，農業は水稲，酪農，軽種馬が主体。アポイ岳高山植物群落（特別天然記念物）がある。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。364.30km²。5114人（2010）。
