Japanese: 城端[町] - じょうはな

An old town in Higashitonami County in the southwest of Toyama Prefecture. The main settlement, Ichiba-cho, is located in the southern part of the Tonami Plain and is the terminus of the Johana Line. Since Zentoku-ji Temple, founded by Rennyo, was moved here in 1572, the town has developed as a temple town and is a thriving textile industry. Johana lacquerware is a specialty. There is a forest road hot spring, and it is a tourist base for the Gokayama and Shirakawa-go areas. In November 2004, it was incorporated as a city by merging with Taira Village, Kamitaira Village, Toga Village, Inami Town, Inokuchi Village, Fukuno Town in Higashitonami County, and Fukumitsu Town in Nishitonami County to form Nanto City. 64.99 ^km2 . 9,799 people (2003).

富山県南西部，東砺波(ひがしとなみ)郡の旧町。城端線の終点に当たる主集落は砺波平野の南部にあり，市場町。蓮如が開基した善徳寺が1572年移ってきて以後，その門前町として発達，織物業が盛ん。城端塗を特産。林道温泉があり，五箇山(ごかやま)，白川郷方面への観光基地。2004年11月東礪波郡平村，上平村，利賀村，井波町，井口村，福野町，西礪波郡福光町と合併し市制，南砺市となる。64.99km²。9799人（2003）。
