A grassland area distributed in the intermediate zone between tropical desert and tropical rainforest. It is mainly a long-grass savanna with lush long grass (mostly grasses and legumes) and sparse forests and shrubs mixed in places, but when it is very dry it becomes a short-grass savanna. The rainy and dry seasons are clearly separated, and vegetation regenerates and flourishes during the hot rainy season and dies during the dry season. The most representative area is in the central part of Africa, which occupies about one-third of the continent's area, and this is where the name was originally given. Many species of large mammals live. In South America, it is called Campo in the inland part of Brazil and Llano in the Orinoco River basin. → Grassland → Related topics Africa | Savanna climate | Sahel | Tropical plants | Northern Territory | Baobab | Masai Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
