...Population: 6,959 (1995). Located at the mouth of the Oze River, which forms the border with Hiroshima Prefecture, it is surrounded by Otake City, Hiroshima Prefecture, to the north and Iwakuni City on three sides, with a small part of its eastern side facing the Seto Inland Sea. In the early modern period, it was part of the Iwakuni Domain, and there were frequent disputes with the neighboring village of Otake, which was part of the Hiroshima Domain, over the boundaries and common rights of the tidal flats and mountains at the mouth of the river.
