A mosque in Isfahan, Iran. A masterpiece of Seljuk architecture in Iran. Its name means "Friday Mosque." In Japan, it is also called Masjid Jami. It is said to have been founded in the 8th century, but the parts that remain in their original form are those built after the Seljuk period. It has a four-iwan structure with a courtyard surrounded by a cloister as its core, and includes a large prayer hall (1092) with a dome adjacent to the southwestern iwan, and a small prayer hall (Gumbad-e-Haki) with a dome on the northeastern side of the courtyard, also on the main axis.
