Japanese: サドベヤヌ(英語表記)Mihail Sadoveanu
Mihail Sadoveanu
1880‐1961
Romania's greatest prose writer. Born into a farming family in Moldova, he went to the capital to study law for a time, but dropped out to devote himself to his writing career. He began editing literary magazines and publishing his works from his middle school days, and in 1904 he published three short story collections, including Silent Sorrow, and a historical novel, earning him recognition in the literary world. With his superhuman creative ability, he subsequently wrote a full-length historical novel of over 10 volumes, as well as over a hundred medium-length and short stories, and his rich narrative style and deeply lyrical writing style made him the pinnacle of Romanian prose art.
