Osumi stone - Oosumiseki
A type of silicate mineral. Blue or black plate-like crystals with a vitreous luster. Hexagonal crystal system. Found in the cavities of rhyolite and dacite. Discovered in Kagoshima Prefecture in 1953. Miyakonojo Miyashiro Akiho reported this as a new mineral. Its name comes from the Osumi Peninsula. Osumilite.

珪酸塩鉱物の一種。ガラス光沢がある青色または黒色の板状の結晶。六方晶系。流紋岩やデーサイトの空隙などに産する。鹿児島県で発見され、昭和28年（1953）に都城みやしろ秋穂が新鉱物として報告した。名称は大隅半島にちなむ。オースミライト。
