Third Floor - San-Ibushi

Japanese:
Third Floor - San-Ibushi

A folk song from Niigata Prefecture. It has been sung as a parlor song in the entertainment district of the Kashiwazaki region facing the Sea of Japan, and as a Bon Odori song in rural areas. The origin of this song is said to be "Yashome-bushi," which was popular in Edo, Kyoto, and Osaka during the Bunsei period (1818-1830) of the Edo period. It was also called "Yarya-share-bushi" because the musical accompaniment contains the word "yarashare," or "Shuge-sa" because one of the lines of the song is "Shuge-sa." There are two theories about the current title, "Sankai-bushi," which is said to come from the Buddhist term "Sankai" (three worlds), since the song is about a monk's persuasion, and another theory is that the character "sankai" (three tiers) was used because the same line is repeated three times. After Katsutaro recorded it on a record, it became known nationwide.
