A ritsuryo government office under the Ministry of Central Affairs. The Japanese reading is "Uchinokura no tsukasa". Customarily, it is "Kura no tsukasa". The legend of the Three Treasures, including the internal organs, appears in the Kogo Shūi. Its duties included managing the economy of the Imperial Household, and under the ritsuryo system, managing the gold and silver and other items separated from the Ministry of Finance, procuring clothing for the Emperor and Empress and for rituals, and offerings and clothing for the Naishidokoro. It was an important government office, and its staff included the four ranks of head, assistant, Daijō, Shōjō, Daisakan, and Shōzoku, one each of Dai-no-Yaku and Shō-no-Yaku, as well as the head of the Imperial Court, among others. From the mid-Heian period, the head was appointed by a court noble of the fourth rank, and from the Nanboku-chō period onwards, it was hereditary within the Yamashina family. Abolished during the Meiji Restoration, established in the Imperial Household Ministry in 1884 and abolished in 1948. → Taiho Code/Yoro Code Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
