Goblet cell

They are unicellular glands that produce and secrete mucus, and are found in the mucosal epithelium of the intestinal tract, respiratory tract, etc. The base of the cell body is thin, and the upper end is swollen due to the large amount of secretory granules, hence the name goblet. 粘液をつくり出して分泌する単細胞腺で，腺上皮，ことに腸管や呼吸器などの粘膜上皮に多い。細胞体の基部が細く，上端は大量の分泌顆粒のためにふくらんでいるので，杯の名がある。
