Japanese: 運動学 - うんどうがく（英語表記）kinematics

The geometry of motion does not consider the effect of forces on the motion of an object, but only describes the state of motion. Kinematics deals with the various ways of expressing an object's position, displacement (change in position), velocity, acceleration, trajectory (path of motion), etc., and the relationships between them. The motion of an object that does not deform can be considered as translational motion, in which all points on the object describe parallel paths, and rotational motion, in which each point moves at the same angular velocity on a concentric sphere centered on a single point.

物体の運動に及ぼす力の効果は問題にせず，ただ運動の様子を記述するだけの運動の幾何学。運動学の対象は物体の位置，変位 (位置の変化) ，速度，加速度，軌道 (運動の経路) などの種々の表現法とそれらの相互関係である。変形しない物体の運動は，物体のすべての点が平行な経路を描く並進運動と，各点が1点を中心とした同心球面上を同じ角速度で動く回転運動とに分解して考察できる。
