Sagaing [Region] (English spelling)

Japanese: サガイン[管区]（英語表記）Sagaing

One of Myanmar's seven divisions. It has an area of 93,500 km2 and a population of 4.89 million (1994). Its capital, Sagaing City (population 15,000), is 21 km away from Mandalay City across the Irrawaddy River. Administratively, it is divided into 38 townships. It is located in the northwest of the country, between 21°30' and 27°30' north latitude and 94° and 96°30' east longitude, and borders India across the Patkai Mountains to the northwest, Chin State to the southwest, Mandalay and Magway Divisions to the south, and Kachin State to the north and northeast.

ミャンマーにある7管区の一つ。面積約9万3500km2，人口489万(1994)。主都サガイン市(人口約1万5000)は，マンダレー市とはイラワジ川を隔てて21kmの地点にある。行政的には38郡に分かれる。同国北西部の北緯21゜30′から27゜30′，東経94゜から96゜30′の間にあり，北西はパトカイ山脈を挟んでインド，南西はチン州，南はマンダレー，マグウェー両管区，北と北東はカチン州と接している。
