Allowable stress - allowable stress

The limit stress that can be tolerated for the safe use of machines and structures. Machines and other structures are subjected to various loads during use, which causes deformation and stress in each part. For a machine or other structure to function safely, the stress generated needs to be less than the limit stress value that does not cause defects such as destruction or large deformation. The allowable stress σ _al is calculated by dividing the standard strength σ _F , determined by material testing, by the safety factor S , using the formula σ _al = σ _F / S.

機械や構造物を安全に使用するのに許しうる限界の応力。機械などは使用中にさまざまの荷重を受けるため、各部分は変形し、応力を生ずる。機械などが機能を安全に果たすためには、生ずる応力が破壊や大変形などの不具合をおこさない限界の応力の値より小さければよい。許容応力σ_alは、材料試験などから定められる基準になる強度σ_Fを安全率Sで除した式σ_al＝σ_F/Sで求められる。
