A playwright and theater critic from the Meiji and Taisho periods. His real name was Hisatoshi. He was born in Kochi City. His aunt was the female gidayu actor Takemoto Togyoku II. Since 1901, he has been a theater critic for the Chuo Shimbun, Niroku Shinpo, and Yomiuri Shimbun. During that time, he participated in the Writers' Theater. From 1911, he became the editor-in-chief of Engei Club (Hakubunkan). In 1915, he was invited by Tamura Shigeyoshi of the Ichimura Theater to become an advisor to the theater and a confidant to Onoe Kikugorou VI. From 1916, he also worked hard at playwriting as the chief editor of Shin Engei (Genbunsha). After Tamura's death, he assisted his successor Tojiro and devoted himself to managing the Ichimura Theater. His works include scripts for "Wankyusue Matsuyama" and "Kyosei Sandogasa," as well as dance dramas based on Noh and Kyogen, such as "Migaki Zazen," "Boshibari," and "Akutaro." <References> Complete Collection of Japanese Dramas/Modern Volume 2

明治大正期の劇作家,劇評家。本名久寿治。高知市生まれ。叔母は女義太夫の2代目竹本東玉。明治34(1901)年以後,『中央新聞』『二六新報』『読売新聞』で劇評を担当。その間文士劇に参加。44年より『演芸倶楽部』(博文館)の編集主任。大正4(1915)年,市村座の田村成義に招かれて同座の顧問として6代目尾上菊五郎の相談相手となり,5年からは『新演芸』(玄文社)の主幹として劇作にも励んだ。田村没後は嗣子寿二郎を助けて市村座の経営に尽くした。作品に「椀久末松山」「傾城三度笠」などの脚本のほか,能狂言に取材した舞踊劇「身替座禅」「棒しばり」「悪太郎」などがある。<参考文献>『日本戯曲全集/現代篇』2巻
