A former town in Ketaka District, in the central-eastern part of Tottori Prefecture. The main settlement, Shikano, developed as a castle town after 1580, and is known for its folk crafts such as Shikano hats, Noh masks, and fans. It is also home to Kosei-ji Temple, where the grave of Yamanaka Shikansuke is located. Shikano Onsen has simple spring water of 55-72°C and is designated as a national health resort hot spring. In November 2004, it was incorporated into Tottori City along with Kokufu Town, Fukube Village, Kawara Town, Mochigase Town, and Saji Village in Iwami District, Ketaka Town in Ketaka District, and Aoya Town. 52.77 km2 .
