Japanese: 混成言語 - こんせいげんご（英語表記）hybrid language

The word "hybridization" is often used in topics related to language, but it has various meanings. First, there is a linguistic theory supported by the idea that two or more languages that are very different grammatically come into contact and blend together without any regularity. Many historical explanations of pidgin and creole languages in the past have been of this type. It was used as a convenient theory to explain that such languages are not "proper" due to the low intelligence of their speakers, proving the inferiority of the speakers.

〈混成〉という語は，言語関係を扱う話題で使われることが多いが，その意味はさまざまである。まず，文法的に非常に異なった2種以上の言語が接触することにより，それらの言語が規則性も持たずに混ざり合って一体化するという考えに支えられた言語論があった。ピジン諸語，クレオール諸語をめぐる過去の史的説明にはこの種のものが多かった。そうした言語は，その話者たちの知能が低いために，〈まとも〉ではない言語ができあがると説明し，話者たちの劣等性を証明するために都合がよい説として利用された。
