Hybrid integrated circuit

Also called a hybrid IC. An integrated circuit made by combining semiconductor integrated circuits, thin-film or thick-film circuits, and individual components. In many cases, transistors and diodes are made from semiconductor elements, while resistors, capacitors, coils, and the connections between them are made from thin-film or thick-film circuits. While a monolithic integrated circuit forms the necessary circuit elements and connections on a single piece of semiconductor, a hybrid integrated circuit is called a hybrid integrated circuit because it combines individual circuits and components. There is a high degree of freedom in circuit design, making it easy to create circuits that handle large amounts of power or circuits that require high precision.

ハイブリッド ICともいう。半導体集積回路，薄膜や厚膜回路，単独の部品などを組合せてつくった集積回路のこと。トランジスタやダイオードなどを半導体素子でつくり，抵抗，コンデンサ，コイルおよびそれらの間の結線を薄膜または厚膜回路でつくるものが多い。モノリシック集積回路が，必要な回路素子と結線を一つの半導体片上に形成してしまうのに対して，個々の回路，部品を組合せるところから混成集積回路と呼ぶ。回路設計の自由度があり，大きい電力を取扱う回路や高い精度を必要とする回路などをつくりやすい。
