Harue [town] - Harue
A former town in Sakai County in northern Fukui Prefecture along the Hokuriku Main Line and Echizen Railway. Located in the center of the Fukui Plain, it developed as a town for silk and rayon weaving industries from the mid-Meiji period in addition to rice cultivation. Many people commute to Fukui City. Fukui Airport is located in the north. In March 2006, it merged with Mikuni Town, Maruoka Town, and Sakai Town in Sakai County to become a city, Sakai City. 24.43 km2 . Population 23,949 (2003).
