Japanese: 春日権現験記 - かすがごんげんけんき

This is a 20-volume picture scroll depicting the miraculous powers of Kasuga Taisha Shrine, the guardian deity of the Fujiwara clan. At the request of Saionji Kinhira, Takatsukasa Mototada and his son wrote the text, and Takashina Takakane painted the entire scroll and dedicated it in 1309. The technique of combining gorgeous, dense coloring with line drawings to express dynamic movement is the culmination of the Yamato-e tradition. Takakane was the head of the Imperial Court's painting department at the time, and his style seems to have had a great influence on the work, as works such as Ishiyama-dera Engi Emaki and Xuanzang Tripitaka Picture use similar techniques.

藤原氏の氏神春日大社の霊験を描いた絵巻。20巻。西園寺公衡(きんひら)の発願により鷹司(たかつかさ)基忠父子４人が詞を書き，高階隆兼が全巻を描いて1309年奉納された。華麗濃密な彩色と線描による動感表現を合わせた技法は大和絵の伝統の集大成。隆兼は当時宮廷の絵所預(えどころあずかり)で，その画風の影響は大きかったらしく，《石山寺縁起絵巻》《玄奘三蔵絵》などが同系統の技法をもっている。
