[Died] May 13, 1988. Moscow. Soviet naval officer. He is credited with developing the Soviet Navy into one of the world's leading modern navies. He joined the Red Army in 1927. He graduated from the Frunze Naval Academy in 1931. He served on an escort ship in the Black Sea. After serving as a brigade commander and commander, he served as a staff officer of the Black Sea Fleet until the end of World War II. He was Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Navy from 1956 onwards, a member of the Central Committee of the Party in 1961, and an Admiral of the Navy in 1962. He was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union and the Lenin Prize. His main work, Morskaya Sila Strany, is said to be a masterpiece, and some people praise him as the Soviet Mahan. His strategic philosophy placed the utmost importance on the mission of strategic submarines equipped with ballistic missiles, and aimed to use attack submarines to counter American military forces, aircraft carriers, missile-equipped aircraft, and nuclear submarines, thereby cutting off the lifeline of the West.
