〘Noun〙 (also "karashishi")① Lion. Shishi. To distinguish it from the boar (inoshishi) and deer (shishi) native to Japan, it means a foreign lion (animal). ※Joruri, Daishokan (c. 1711) 1 "Thirty pieces of quilt made of mustard fur"② An artistic decorative version of a lion. It is common in paintings and sculptures.
