A full-length novel by Ishikawa Jun. It was serialized in Shincho magazine from 1963, and published by Shinchosha in 1964. There is a character named Sata who is like the energy of life itself, living from a place that is directly connected to the roots of the earth, while being aware of death and despair. He appears from time to time in this magnificent romance, but the purpose here is not to pursue the drama that he embodies. Sata is more of a fictional image than a fictional character, and the drama of several fictional characters unfolds around this fictional image, influenced by his existence. The characters, including Akune Akisaku, Ushio Hirokata, Teruko, and Miho, literally show the way of life of "wild spirits" as they burn the energy of life to the fullest under their own destiny. It is an intriguing novel full of energy. [Yoshio Izawa] [References] |Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
