Japanese: アラマンダ（英語表記）Allamanda

The most well-known of these is A. cathartica L. (English name: common allamanda), a genus of the Apocynaceae family, with beautiful large yellow trumpet-shaped flowers. As it is strong and easy to grow, it is planted in the ground or in pots and is widely cultivated in tropical regions. It was introduced to Japan at the end of the Meiji period. This species is an evergreen shrub native to Guiana in South America and the coastal areas of Brazil, and grows in a semi-creeping shape. The leaves are egg-shaped lanceolate with slightly pointed tips, about 10 cm long.
