Pik Kommunizma (English spelling)

Japanese: コムニズム[峰]（英語表記）Pik Kommunizma

Located in the central part of the Republic of Tajikistan, Central Asia, this is the highest peak in the country. It was also the highest peak in the former Soviet Union. Formerly known as Pik Stalina, it is 7,495m above sea level. It stands at the point where the Academy of Sciences Range and the Peter I Range join in the western Pamir Plateau, and its slopes are covered with glaciers and perpetual snow. The Fedchenko Glacier on the eastern side is one of the largest in the world. Its altitude was confirmed by surveying in 1932, and it was renamed to its current name in 1962. It was first climbed by EMAbalakov of the Soviet Union in 1933, but until then it was called Mount Garmo.

中央アジア，タジキスタン共和国中部に位置する同国の最高峰。旧ソ連邦の最高峰でもあった。旧称スターリン峰Pik Stalina。標高7495m。パミール高原の西部，科学アカデミー山脈とピョートル1世山脈が合する地点にそびえ，斜面は氷河と万年雪に覆われ，東側のフェドチェンコ氷河は世界有数の規模をもつ。1932年に測量によって標高が確定され，62年に現在名に改称された。1933年，ソ連のアバラコフE.M.Abalakovが初登頂したが，それまではガルモGarmo山と呼ばれていた。
