He was familiar with haiku from an early age, and the number of haiku included in the first Teimon anthology, Inukoshu (1633), was the fourth highest among Kyoto authors after Matsunaga Teitoku, Matsue Shigeyori, and Nonoguchi Chikashige (Tachiho). In 1644, he was awarded the secret book of haiku, Tensui-sho, and in 1651, he was entrusted with editing the compilation of Teimon haiku, Konzanshu, so his teacher Teitoku had a lot of trust in him. His style was moderate, and his representative haiku is "Dyed in light blue, the wata of the sweetfish are dyed in light blue." He is one of the Seven Immortals of the Teimon school. <References> Toshiro Kodaka, "Keikan Reitoku" (Meiji Shoin Haiku Lectures, Volume 2) (Sadahiko Kato) Source: Asahi Japanese Historical Biography: Asahi Shimbun Publications Inc.
