A female Russian Narodnik revolutionary. Born into a distinguished aristocratic family, she was the daughter of the governor of St. Petersburg. While studying for university, she joined the Tchaikovsky group. In 1872, she put into practice her "Into the People" movement, and was arrested in 1874. In 1878, she joined the "Land and Freedom" association, and from 1879, as a member of the People's Will Executive Committee, she participated in a plot to assassinate the Tsar, and in March 1881, she supervised the assassination of Alexander II at the scene. She was publicly executed in April. [Wada Akiko]
