Adalbertus

…He was a martyr for evangelizing the pagan Prussians, and is revered as a national saint in Czechoslovakia, Poland, and other places. His baptismal name was Vojčech, but he later took the name of his teacher, Bishop Adalbertus of Magdeburg, and is known in Western Europe as Adalbert of Prague. He became Bishop of Prague in 983, but was unable to carry out his duties for political reasons, and fled to Rome in 990. …
