Komagata Shrine

Located in Nakaueno-cho, Mizusawa-ku, Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture. It enshrines Ukanomitama no Okami, Ogetsuhime no Kami, Oichihime no Kami, and Kotoshironushi no Kami. The date of its founding is unknown, but one theory is that a miracle occurred at the time of Sakanoue no Tamuramaro's conquest of the Emishi. In 851 (Jinju 1), it was awarded the rank of Shogoi no Ge, and in 862 (Jogan 4), it was promoted to Juyo Shiinoge. It is listed in the Engi Shikinaisha (Engi Shikinaisha). During the feudal era, it was revered by the Nanbu and Date clans. Since ancient times, there has been an inner shrine at the summit of Mt. Komagatake, and a village shrine at Hinakozawa at the foot of the mountain. However, due to the inconvenience of climbing the mountain, when it was designated a minor national shrine in 1871 (Meiji 4), Shiogama Shrine, located at the current site, was made a temporary place of worship. In 1903 (Meiji 36), the divine spirit was moved from the summit and it was designated as the main shrine. The annual festival is held on September 19th. Farmers have a strong faith in this shrine as the guardian deity of horses.

岩手県奥州(おうしゅう)市水沢(みずさわ)区中上野町に鎮座。宇迦能御魂大神(うかのみたまのおおかみ)、大宜津比売神(おおげつひめのかみ)、大市比売神(おおいちひめのかみ)、事代主神(ことしろぬしのかみ)を祀(まつ)る。創建年代不詳であるが、一説に坂上田村麻呂(さかのうえのたむらまろ)の蝦夷(えぞ)征討に際し霊異があったと伝えられる。851年（仁寿1）正五位下を授けられ、862年（貞観4）従(じゅ)四位下に上る。延喜(えんぎ)式内社。藩政時代には南部藩、伊達(だて)藩の尊崇を受けた。古来、駒ヶ岳山頂に奥宮があり、里宮は山麓(さんろく)の雛子(ひなこ)沢にあったが、登拝不便のため1871年（明治4）国幣小社に列したとき、現社地にあった塩竈(しおがま)神社を仮遙拝(かりようはい)所とした。1903年（明治36）神霊を山頂より遷座し本社と定めた。例祭9月19日。馬の守護神として農民の信仰が厚い。
