...A shrine dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami or the god of Ise Inner and Outer Shrines. It is also called Shinmei-gu, Shinmei-jinja, Daijingu, or Ise-gu (Ise Shrine). Shinmei is synonymous with god, and appears in the Chinese classics "Zuo Zhuan" and "Book of Documents."
